“It always seems impossible until it's done.” – Nelson Mandela
In over 100 years of commercial aviation, the industry has faced countless obstacles, each one arguably more challenging than the last. Despite the inevitable feeling that forces are against us, we work together to learn, adapt, and prevail.
We are over seven months into this particular crisis, and while we still have a long road to recovery, we are seeing extraordinary levels of collaboration and problem solving. That work is revealing bright spots where the world is getting comfortable with traveling again. In one recent Hopper survey, 85% of travelers who flew between June and July indicated they would feel comfortable flying again in the next 1-3 months.
This third issue of The Foundation reinforces the spirit of industry perseverance, demonstrated daily by more than 600 airlines, systems, sales channels, and technology partners. Undoubtedly, our plans for this year—and the next several—have been turned upside down. But as Mike Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth." Let's now adjust, get back up, and move forward.
